Top Must Have Products and Final Blog Sale Reductions

As I mentioned previously, my makeup and skincare needs have altered dramatically since starting full time work. When teaching, it is so easy to assume that any giggle from a student could mean lipstick smeared all over my face of board marker accidentally wiped on my cheek, the perils of teaching! As a result, I am very careful about the makeup I choose, my main priorities being that it is long-lasting and work appropriate.

I now have a handful of products that I rely upon daily that go with nearly every outfit I wear.

  • Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer
  • Hourglass Veil Fluid Foundation
  • Chanel Soleil Tan Bronze Universal
  • Tom Ford Fire Lust Illuminator
  • By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Powder
  • Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder
  • By Terry Terrybly Blusher in Platonic Coral
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light
  • Hourglass Lip Oil
  • Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Rivage or Boy
  • Giorgio Armani Maestro Eraser Concealer
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer
  • MAC Eyebrow Pencil in Fling
  • MAC Paint Pots in Groundwork & Painterly
  • MAC Powerchrome Eye pencil in Life's Luxury
  • Benefit They're Real Mascara
Having just listed them I can see what I considered initially a handful is possibly a few handfuls! I highly recommend the Hourglass base products for anyone who has oily skin and wants their foundation to last longer than a few hours, but I do find they are lacking in pale shades. It is only now that I have a bit of a tan that I have found a shade match.

Using the Laura Mercier Brightening Powder prevents any smudging of mascara or eyeliner during the hot and sticky weather we are having. To avoid the harshness of eyeliner I have been using MAC Painterly all over the lid, with Groundwork in the crease. I then add a touch of smokiness by dabbing the powerchrome eye pencil on a smokey eye brush and smudging it along the upper lash line and the lower corner. I normally use one of the recent Chanel Waterproof pencils all along the lower lashes and waterline, something like Rose Platine. If I am feeling a little bored of a matte eye, I use one of the Tom Ford Cream Eyeshadows, the recent summer shades along with Platinum and Spice (from last year) being my favourites. I really hope that one day they become a permanent addition to the range.

The Hourglass Ambient Powders are very hard to describe and I think there will doubtless be many more bloggers who can give a better description and swatches of them. For me, Dim Light has turned into a must have. I am hard pressed to say exactly what it does, but somehow it works its magic and makes me look healthier. I was matched in Space NK to Dim light but I would like to try some of the other shades when funds allow. The Tom Ford Illuminator also adds a healthy summer glow and I use such a tiny amount, I suspect it will be a decade before it runs out. It is limited edition for summer so if you find it on a counter near you, I would definitely recommend you try it out.

I am a little obsessed with concealers suffering from acne scarring and dark circles due to poor health but I think I've finally found two products I will stick to. The Armani is perfect in colour and texture for under the eyes and doesn't crease, whilst the Estee Lauder Double Wear lasts well on my spots and scarring. Again, I found the palest shade too dark for me until I got a tan as it tended to oxidise, but now it is the correct shade for my skin tone.

With very dry lips, the Hourglass Lip Oil is the best thing I have tried and its texture feels quite unique to me, it is heavier on the lips than I anticipated. Due to this dryness, I tend to avoid lipstick at work as when speaking to students for up to 6 hours daily, it fades unevenly. The Chanel Rouge Coco Shines are the best product I have found for not exacerbating my dryness and still giving colour and finishing off the face. For this reason I own about 15 of them, but Boy is still my all time favourite. They can be a little sheer but the most recent additions have considerably more pigment in them. I have tried similar products by other luxury brands, Nars, By Terry and Tom For, and I still find the Chanel hard to beat.

Skincare
This is still an area I am struggling with and I have stripped back my routine to Cetaphil cleanser, Heal Gel to work on acne and scarring and Perricone MD eye cream. I have only been using the Heal Gel for around 3 weeks so have little to report as yet but when two months are up, I will try and post on whether it is better than Alpha H Liquid Gold, the product I used to rely on.

Blog Sale
As my debts have to be repaid by the end of next week, these are the final reductions on the products left. There are still some beautiful fragrances, Chantecaille palettes, Chanel Nail Polishes and By Terry lipsticks to be had so do take a here.

Blog Sale Reductions

Still struggling (and not sleeping hence writing this at 4am!) to repay debt so I have reduced the price of everything remaining in my final blog sale. Still some great bargains to be had from luxury brands like Tom Ford, Chantecaille, By Terry, Chanel and MAC. For those of you who have already purchased, thank you so much and your items will be sent out tomorrow afternoon as it is my only shift off from work. Any kind of self promotion etc really doesn't come easily to me and I know many people frown upon it (it can be irritating having a dashboard full of blog sale posts!), but it is only due to desperation. I promise after this week, all being well, it will stop and I can resume some normal posts again.

Barely used Chantecaille and Dior palettes at very good prices!

Despite reluctantly parting with a huge amount of my makeup collection, I hope aside from getting me financially solvent, it should allow me to focus on the products that really work for me. My situation has changed a lot since my regular blogging days, my skin is a few shades darker due to being outdoors more, I visit London at least once a week and I need to wear makeup everyday for work to look polished and professional. This has affected my skincare, makeup and fragrance choices dramatically and I have returned to some old favourites as well as relying heavily on some fairly new launches. Still a Chanel nail polish addict though, some things will never change! Hopefully, I will be able to post some of my staples on here soon as they may be quite different to products I have mentioned in the past.

Mega Blog Sale! Tom Ford, Chanel, Dior, By Terry, Nars, Jo Malone, Chantecaille, Suqqu, YSL, Le Metier

Whilst I've been very bad at posting, I have been very good at reorganising all of my makeup. I've had a ruthless clear out due to utter financial crisis (lesson learned that payday loans are a terrible idea) and here are the results. The rules are as usual:
  • If you want an item, please leave a comment stating which item you would like with your paypal email address and then I will send you an invoice (I won't publish your email address in the comments section). I won't be checking twitter so please comment on the post instead.
  • It is a case of first come first served.
  • Please pay promptly, if I don't hear from you within 24 hours I will re-list the item.
  • Paypal is the only form of payment accepted
  • I will ship worldwide but due to customs regulations, I cannot ship nail polish or perfume outside the UK. Please state in your comment which country you are in.
  • Postage will be £2.50 and then 50p extra for each additional item, unless perfume or nail polish sets. The postage for these items is listed alongside the price as they are heavy and fragile! If you would like your items sent recorded delivery, please say so in the comments but it will be £3.50 instead of £2.50 (lots of the items are quite heavy). For overseas buyers, postage will be £4 and then 50p per additional item. I have had to estimate postage costs and I will refund any difference in actual cost if it is £1 or more.
  • Please don't rely solely on my descriptions, I have put them there as a guide, but I would suggest if you are unsure about something, to check out swatches on other beauty blogs first.
  • All sales are final.
I've not been on Twitter in over 2 years but I will try and remember my username and password to tweet about this blog sale on there later. If you are better with technology and social media than me and would like to tweet about it I would be eternally grateful! I had hoped I would be back blogging about nicer things but alas work has got in the way and desperate times lead to desperate measures, hence this sale.
