October's Must-haves and Lust-haves

Another month has been and gone, meaning another five products that I have loved and five products that I would like to own next month. As Christmas seems to be approaching fast (or so the retailers would have us believe), quite a few holiday items feature on my lust-have list.

Must-haves
  1. La Roche Posay Effaclar Mattifying Fluid -£14 (Effaclar Sets are currently on offer at http://www.garden.co.uk/). Since my skin has turned into an oil slick I needed and good mattifying product and as this was on 3 for 2 in Boots, thought I'd give it a try. Problem solved!
  2. Caudalie Cleansing Water - £14.50. The perfect lazy way to remove my makeup and cleanse my skin. I don't use it everyday but when I'm tired and crawling into bed, this is perfect.
  3. Le Metier de Beaute Noir Precision Liquid Eyeliner - £20. I could have dedicated my whole top 5 to Le Metier products but I tried to limit myself. This is the best eyeliner I have ever used, simples.
  4. Le Metier de Beaute Kaleidoscope Eye Kit in Le Cirque - £65. A beautiful combination of superb quality eyeshadows. For more detail, see my previous post on this.
  5. Clinique Redness Solutions Foundation - With my oily skin has come acne, the nasty red kind, and this product has been a revelation. Applied along with a good concealer (Le metier or Vichey Dermablend), my skin probably looks better than it did without spots. For fellow sufferers, check out Lisa Eldridge's video tutorial on how to disguise acne, her best yet.

Dior Minaudiere Grey Golds - £59
Lust-haves
  1. Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Pulsion - £16.50. Released tomorrow, I always fall for vibrant pink polishes so hopefully I will get this in time for next week's Monday Manicure.
  2. Le Metier de Beaute Blush in Echo - £21. This shade was used on me last week in Selfridges, a suit everyone peach/pink shade, but sadly they had sold out. London Makeup Girl has posted about it in more detail on her blog, which just makes me want it even more!
  3. Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Velvet Body Oil - £37. I love dry body oils and this is one of my favourite scents so it's going on my Christmas list (Yes, less than a week after my Birthday I am compiling a Christmas List!)
  4. Dior Minaudiere Pink Golds - £59. Anything this pretty must be mine. I don't really care what's inside, although I am sure it's lovely, the packaging is drawing me to it.
  5. Emma Hardie Amazing Face Rejuvenating Night Cream - £56. A lot of beauty bloggers has recommended this and I am hoping it will be just the thing for my skin this winter, it's a generous size as well.

Le Metier de Beaute Blush
Have any beauty products caught your eye this month or are you waiting for Christmas Day?

  1. I completely agree with you on the Le Metier liquid eyeliner. Best I've ever used....and I am trying to resist Echo, although my past history of eventual surrender does not make me very optimistic :-)
And the Chanel Glossimer in Pink Pulsion isn't looking too shabby to me either. Dear God, and ot\s not even Christmas yet!

  3. It is always interesting to see what others wish for/need and when does an obsession become a need? I did a post on that about a month ago and never solved it really. I also think is the anticipation and drooling over something (metaphorical drooling that is lol) more fun than the actual purchase? When does the fizz of anticipation dip to the hum of the ordinaire? Sorry I am using your comment box to ponder. I will shut up. Thankyou Jennifer. Jan x

  4. Hi Nina,
In the words of Oscar Wilde, 'I can resist everything except temptation'!
Luckily I sent my mum out to get me the Chanel Pulsion Nail Polish yesterday so I didn't have to see the rest of the Holiday Collection. I was afraid if I went I would have no money to buy anyone's Christmas presents with!

    Hi Jeanie,
I can't normally be fussed with eyeliner but the Le Metier one has reformed me. I saw the Dior compact in the flesh again today and there is an offer on in store on Wednesday so I can see me caving then X

    Hi Jan,
I love lists too and I find writing my own like this can keep me on track a bit during the month, reminding me what I actually want so I am less likely to get distracted by random items.

I have thought about the want/need thing quite a lot recently as the line tends to get very blurred with me. I love the anticipation of a new product (sort of the thrill of the chase/how will I fund it) but often I only end up swatching it and then it's put aside. My New Year's Resolution will definitely be to use more of my existing products. The problem is you tempt me with all your lovely skincare reviews, I always think the next product will be the one to transform my skin, lips, hair etc.

Pondering is always welcome on my blog!
